Derve MerkleThis is a bit misleading... the model x is not towing the truck, it's merely moving it enough that the truck can get enough grip to stop spinning its wheels. The truck is towing the truck. The Tesla is helping the truck get traction. An old Subaru could do this.

They would be a good test of the product as they have a set schedule, route, and weight limits. With charging stations in cities they might reduce the overhead for refuse removal.

Carol GaytanSpace X is a private company that has a government contract to use its Falcon 9 rockets to deliver payloads to the Space station. This is also going to garner public funds, but it had to have a payload to prove itself. They usually use cement blocks for tests usually, as it has a pretty big chance at blowing up on the first launch. Especially this big of a rocket with this mix of energy. So, no, the government is not paying Space X to launch this car into space, although it may cover some of the research costs associated, this launch would happen whether a load of bricks or a car was on board. It is a test launch. The money for the launch, the control for the launch is Space X's, not any governmental branch; unlike the F-35,1.45 trillion dollar rip-off being perpetrated by Lockheed Martin for a jet that does not work. In fact, if his "Heavy" rocket damages the pad, I think Space X has to pay to repair the pad. Which is why Space X will be thrilled if it clears the pad before exploding, but even more thrilled if it does not explode at all. The best of best scenarios will be if the rocket launches clears our atmosphere and they recover the 3 already used Falcon 9 rockets. Then if the capsule actually makes its solar orbit, well, that would be frosting on the cupcake.

My second Model S was inferior to the first. Tesla's own AP2 Autopilot is poor. We lost auto headlights and wipers . It the only car in history that I know that went backwards in terms of technology. Musk needs to focus on learning how to make high-quality cars, and mass producing them, not focusing on all of these stupid outragous PR promises designed to get more publicity and investment. When the very many EV's from the major automakers arrive, a lot ofTesla's investors will run for the door, but by then, it will be too late. Very few of the world's car buyers will buy cars because they are infatuated with Elon Musk.

Get over it, if you can't afford it, admire it and what Tesla is really doing. Its not how much money the car is, its them building the future of cars and the technology of development of batteries,etc.. Look how much the space program cost and how much we benifited from that. All these smart phones, tiny storage cards, etc would not be here for us if the space program hadn't spent trillions of dollars.

Once they batteries hit 1000 miles on a charge and prices come down on battery packs, the business case for ICE is dead.

They know that they will not deliver cars. So i call for refund and i bought bmw hybrid which is great car. And in the end of the day Tesla is doing some great thing for the future but to have 30% cars on the road electric, electrical nework will not handle. When you charge tesla you use 3 hotel electrical charge and yes battery is old technology it is not developed enough in terms of wide use. And last thing who will recycle all that batteries? I think only 30% of battery can be recycle. Will you send then to Mars? In USA People have problems because you pay for what you did in past 60 years. 8.0L engine as standard and V8 it is waste of fuel and you create great basic for hurricane type 5 in future. Funding is a bit low, so now they're releasing this new Roadster and the Semi to further fund the massive amount of cash it's taking to mass produce a $40k car of the Model 3's caliber. The people who have the cash to buy this car are helping to fund an incredible vehicle that most middle-class people will be able to afford - the Model 3 and maybe the Model Y (comparably priced SUV version).

Ramin LalezariTesla A bad experience. The cars are marvelous. Right? That’s what we thought. Our first Tesla was the 2017 Model S 90D. After 8 months of driving the car we absolutely love it. The first Tesla experience was incredible from delivery to today. So much so that we decided to buy a second Tesla last month. The second one is a Model X 100D. We had it for 4 days since we took delivery on September 30th. On the 5th day the car was dead in the garage and instead of driving to work I got to watch it get towed away. 12 days later and we still cannot even get a call back from Tesla about our car. All they have told us is that someone is writing a patch to the firmware but they don’t know who or when. A new expensive car with a custom firmware patch? Who knows what will happen next time they do an update? How can we take our little kids skiing fearing getting stuck in the mountains or worse yet on the side of the highway? We have no idea what the problem is with our new car. What is different and defective in our car that it requires a patch? The worst thing is that the Tesla dealership does not seem to care. Not an email. No phone calls for days. Not even the curtesy of returning our phone call asking about the status 5 days ago. From the beginning they refused to commit to any date or any fix. This second Tesla purchase has completely ruined our opinion of the company and their cars. Not telling the customer what is wrong with the car is unacceptable. Taking huge sum of money from the customer (for the second time this year from this customer) and having their brand new car die and sit for weeks waiting for their software is outrageous. Would anyone in their right mind spend this kind of money and accept a car which could die at any moment because it is different from all other Teslas? Hurry up and buy a Tesla. Give them the money and prey that you will be luckier than we were. We are still waiting to hear from Tesla and wonder when they will give us back the patched up piece of garbage. Tesla has ruined these two former fans. We look forward to our next car.

Chris WeddleI absolutely positively will never pay for a self driving car. But the very idea of an all-electric car with real range is massively appealing. So this is my conundrum, Tesla wants to sell cars laden with technologies, costly features, all extraneous to a driver behind the wheel going from one place to another. This forces up complexity and cost. Worse, the cars are subject to software changes without customer approval. So even if I could get my hands on a base model, it seems my ownership would never be 100%, not if the software can be fiddled with remotely without my permission. I want an all electric car I can afford, with 300 miles of range, with A/C that works in Phoenix in August. Paint it a bright white and stop right there. No automation, simplify, simplify, simplify! AND CUT COST$ THAT WAY!!! I mean, why does every car sold have to be a luxury model or a whiz-bang gadget showcase???? Seriously, I want an answer to that one!?

Kevin DinhI put a $2500 down for a showroom Model X with Kyle (Gerald), but after talking to our financial adviser, we decided to go with a Model 3 instead because we wanted to buy a house. Susy and this Costa Mesa dealership refuses to return my deposit. It's not like a loss to them because it was not a custom order. They already sold the car by now. Not only that my $1000 deposit for Model 3 that I transferred over for the payment still has not been refunded. They have no right to hold that $1000. This $1000 is not legally bound to anything. I haven't even test-driven the car or seen it. You can't hold my money. I tired of getting the run-around from this dealership. They are trying to steal my hard-earned money. I called Tesla customer service and talked to Dustin, and at first they told me that they are working on it and they will issue a refund. Then week later there's no refund and told me that I need to contact Susy and Costa Mesa dealership because they are the one that's holding my money. They are selling cars that are over $100,000 and yet you need many approvals for just $1000? How many approvals do you need to get for a small amount of refund? It's been over a month and I am still getting the run-around from them. I thought Tesla would be better than any other common car dealership. I don't think Elon Musk would want his brand to be tainted by this dealership.

Yu WuA news was shared yesterday that Tesla would build its own manufacturing facility in Shanghai, congrats on getting traction on the largest fast-growth electric car market! When will we know the exact timing and models to be built there?

Donald D. BattlesNote the new Tesla Power Pack for solar installations has a far reaching advantage for electrical sufficiency. Tesla and Elon Musk are building the worlds largest battery factory in Australia. His plant in Reno when finished will be the largest building under one roof in the world. The Tesla Model 3 has a backlog of 500,000 and is now in manufacturing. The US has 16,000 charging stations and 10,000 more are under construction by VW as a penalty for the diesel emissions lie.

Doug LinzeHi everyone, I discovered that the Universe is actually Magnetic... Literally.... Here's how the magnetic field came into our cells to become alive.... You can see the H2O molecule separate into negative oxygen and positive hydrogen... Current.... Which brought the Magnetic Field into the first cell of life, wrapped with a hydrophilic membrane, a lipid, from the thermal vents at the bottom of the ocean... This is for real... The picture shows how this process happened... It's great...! Make these kind of batteries too Elon...

Julia BoulatovNow is the Chinese could just figure out Helium-3 fusion already, for those of us not fortunate to live where sunlight can provide enough... we can kick the fossil fuel dependency, and do something about our dying planet.

Teri Wehmeyer MacGillHow about you make some kind of deal to help Puerto Rico restore power .. and instead of rebuilding the old grid, put in more localized solar on houses, with batteries .. so the won't lose power for the whole island again when the next hurricane hits. These islands would be great places to show what can be done.

Tomasz WilińskiGot it from over 3 weeks. Average daily grid usage drops from 16kWh to 2kWh during winter (worst time). Should pay back 6 years, but if electricity price will still rise it may come after 5 years.

Karen PetersThinking of Puerto Rico and their completely destroyed infrastructure.... what a perfect opportunity, Tesla. Their location makes this sort of application ideal and would be a fantastic restart. To rebuild based on old fossil fuel paradigms would just be foolish at this point. IMHO.

Joe RosemanIn a world full of corruption, where peoples' tragedy becomes the "fortune" of others, who most certainly lack sympathy, long live Elon Musk, for the selfless decision of updating Tesla vehicle's system (over-the-air), AT NO COST, making possible to extend the miles coverage of Tesla owner's cars in Florida, so they could go farther during the Irma hurricane. In many other countries this could have been an opportunity to overcharge. This simple gesture may have passed unoticed by most people who don't own a Tesla (I don't own one), but sure raises desire to possess anything built with such spirit of sympathy. There are many moments and events in which we get to know the essence of people and, critical moments, like Tropical Storms, at least allow us to unveil some good faces. Elon Musk, in name of elegance, tenderness, intelligence and entreprenuership and (mostly) human values, even though I'm just a John Doe, I would like to thank and congratulate you for the roads you've chosen to pave so far.

Shekhar M MoonaGoing to give you the heads up on Puerto Rico. Lobbyists for coal fired plants and oil and gas will push to have their power generators in Puerto Rico. Tesla will bid, but will be underbid by a coal fired plant. That plant will most likely run into cost over runs. And exceed the budget set. Continuing a cycle of increases expenses. Puerto Rico has, plenty of rivers and waterways to produce hydroelectricity. Puerto Rico, gets plenty of sunshine to produce solar electricity. Puerto Rico gets plenty of wind to produce windpowered electricity. Puerto Rico could probably get underwater turbines if the environmental impact study is complete. ELON has to address these hurdles that Lobbyists are going to compete to get Puerto Rico's business. Coal and gas being shipped to Puerto Rico is not efficient and is expensive. Green initiatives are the only way to power Puerto Rico efficiently and cheaply. Elon will have to get a special team to, understand how these Lobbyists work and that team has to come under budget or at budget and underbid other companies. Can he do it? Yes, but he is seriously going to have to play his cards right.

Robert BernalI'm curious as to what the energy stored on energy invested is for Tesla's batteries. Lots of people think that batteries require more energy to make than it's worth. I believe that Tesla has already figured out how to make them using less energy. I don't want the amount of carbon dioxide used, because that'll be reduced in the future, anyways. What I want is like kWh of energy in for a kWh of storage (and how many cycles expected). Thanks in advance, Robert.

Sergio Francis PalenciaElon Musks Tesla should use the entire island of Puerto Rico as a Beta site for his Battery Packs and solar panels as good will to the 3.4 million American people living there... Trump is a Bum!!!

Alexandra Del Coro AmengualPuerto Rico just now lost power again 100% (not that there was much on in the fist place). That means hospitals ect..are today AGAIN without power. I heard Tesla was in talks with out governor. I'm hoping REAL hard something can be done. I just rode home from work on break and just about bawled my eyes out all the way home. It's so frustrating. My heart aches so much for my island.

Here in San Diego those living in poverty and homeless are being criminalized and separated from their children. We need help with powering families living in poverty homes.
