Mike HoffmanService? Just don't crash. The dirty little secret of Tesla is their repairs and body work are outsourced, you have to sign a document stating "repairs may exceed 6 months". I was an early adopter of the Model S and a repeat customer currently on my second one - 90D with Auto-pilot and all the goodies. We had an accident in April and the shop told us today it is finally on the rack being stripped down and we can expect it to be finished the end of September. As soon as I get it back, it is gone. #goodbyetesla

Albert RetodoThey will need to add the extra service centers when the model 3's start going on the streets. Over the past approximately 3 years with influxes of model S's and X's, there has been a big difference in availability at superchargers, ability to get in for appointments at your local service center, and the ability when your car is being serviced, to get a Tesla loaner car vs getting your standard Benz, Bimmer, Cadillac, or Lexus. The infrastructure is at a crossroads...Now, if my car needs service, I only take it to the Fremont factory as you can get in a lot quicker, and it is actually in line with my commute path.

Nick JohnsonTo all those moaning about wait times and costs- that's the price you paid when you decided to be an early adapter. This is a single company trying to change the world- but it won't happen overnight- and neither will your door get fixed in 2 days. Once this is scaled, and even thrown into the mix of healthy competition on the market- then you'll see prices drop, faster and faster innovation, etc. Though Tesla will be at the forefront of that advancement, at least it's my thought they will.

Nick GrantPart of the appeal for me is less maintenance, and electric vehicles have way less parts that can break -- so while fast service is great, I'd rather the focus be on production quality that keeps this kind of stuff less than necessary

Adam BowlbyTesla started the disruption in the industry but is no longer disruptive. The other auto manufacturers are coming out with electric vehicles too and no longer look at electric vehicles as a fad or a niche market. Tesla is never going to leave the likes of GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, or the luxury German brands in the dust. Yes, their Autopilot feature is advanced, but all the other car brands and countless other tech companies are creating their own competing autonomous car technologies. Auto manufacturing is a hugely capital intensive industry. While Tesla continues to lose money, the legacy established brands continue to rake in billions in profit from their ICE cars that can subsidize losses on their electric models until battery prices drop enough to make them truly competitive on price with ICE cars. VW Group, Mercedes, and BMW have all shifted their focus from diesels to electrics and plug-in hybrids, and Volvo just announced it's ambitious transition to electrified vehicles by 2019. I think Tesla is an amazing company and thankfully pushed the auto industry over the edge to finally embrace electric cars, but it will never be able to compete on the scale needed to warrant its extreme stock valuation.

Rob WebbThe cost of a base Model 3 is 35,000 before the Fed tax credit of 7,500 so that technically will be a base price of 27,500. However that 7,500 Fed tax credit will disappear & be cut by 50% every 6 months until it is zero dollars & gone. The only way the Fed tax credit will continue is if the Fed Gov't grants an extension/continuance/renewal. Tesla is approaching that 200k sold units mark very soon too. Therefore, it is completely plausible that there'll be no Fed tax credit for no one but the very few early deliveries (a few thousand) of the Model 3 buyers. Also, the average price of a new car is hitting on 35,000 anyways.. so I do not see what all the whining about the base price is about. Most of the Model 3's that will be sold will more than likely be optioned up to 40k-45k anyways. Plus, Volvo Cars announced they are going all electric & hybrid by 2019, so all the major automakers want a piece of the Tesla pie! I understand these cars are not completely clean as the raw materials that they have to dig out of the ground to build them. But I understand it's a good start. Most of all it's an American company. IMO that's a bit too long (as technology is improving day by day why wait for a 2 year "old new" car?), especially when Volvo announced their plan of producing only EV's and hybrids as from 2019, other car manufacturers will follow. Ricky WooThis car is for those that are infatuated with hype of being part of a luxury/ visionary movement. There are cars that probably fit the working class budget like a Nissan Leaf EV or a Kia Soul EV among others but few aspire to those brands so they set there eyes on something that's a little out of reach because of cool factor. Meanwhile a Tesla 3 is a compact executive car, which means it's a fancified compact in terms of cabin space. In other words it's going to be on the small side. What would be nice for the masses would be a compact or midsize SUV format for practicality purposes and all around usefulness for parents that need the space and need to save on gas dollars while driving kids around to school and back and themselves to work and logging all kinds of mileage on a weekly routine. I can't wait to see the Outlander PHEV land in North America just for giggles. Now go get that e-tron Roudi Salsatek as I tralala in my fossil fuel V6 TLX that does 8.5L/100km idle gas generator air conditioner lounge in the summer and awd winter element beater for the next 3 years before I change it to a Honda Clarity PHEV. 👍🙄👌

Allen F ButcherIf you think about the fact that the Federal government and some states offer tax incentives on alternative-fuel vehicles, It will be possible, in some states to buy a Model 3 for around $27,000. Considering the average new car transaction price is over $30,000, It's cheap, especially for an electric car with a 200 mile range. These are the cars that the Model 3 will be directly competing against. Nissan Leaf - Starts at $30,000 AFTER tax incentives, 107 mile range, ugly Chevy Bolt - Starts at $36,000 AFTER tax incentives, 231 mile range, better looking than a Leaf, still ugly. Ford Focus Electric - Starts a $29,000 AFTER tax incentives, 100 mile range, It's a still a Focus. The 3 series BMW was the benchmark for the car though.

It will be perfect for diesels and petrol engines, from regular passenger vehicle's to trucks. I would love a silver Tesla Roadster but with the way I drive it would never achieve 120 kilometres per charge, fossil fuels were never our enemy, we were the stupid ones. Rigs and other large vehicles are the bigger problems, sea container ships are the main culprits as regular automobiles are not the real issue.
